scale factor equation

I think God must have been in a really bad mood decided to come up with something called algebra to trouble us! I’ve spent days trying to figure out a solution to this algebra problem which relates to scale factor equation and I still can’t crack it . I’m particularly stuck on factoring polynomials, rational expressions and 3x3 system of equations. Can anyone show me the way on how to go about solving such problems? I’ve tried various means that I could think of, but none helped. I need some urgent guidance now. Anybody?
